Windsor and Maidenhead gained Fairtrade status during February 2006 and successfully renewed its status in 2009 - next renewal bid to be submitted Summer 2011!

It's quite a simple concept really - products with the Fairtrade mark mean producers get paid a fair wage for their goods in contrast to the paltry amounts they would otherwise receive.

Also, workers are treated in a fair way and child slave labour is prohibited.
